Safe and Supportive Schools/Character Education/Equity and Inclusivity Education
Every student has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment.  The York Region District School Board has a Safe and Supportive Schools Policy and a defined procedure to implement the policy.  Both the policy and procedure support the view that student discipline involves a continuum of support including prevention, intervention and appropriate consequences.  Unionville P.S. supports and implements the ideals and policies outlined in the Board's Equity and Inclusive Programs.  The school's staff integrates equity and inclusivity learning into regular programming in an attempt to create a school environment that is inclusive, supportive and respectful in all regards.

In addition, Unionville P.S. supports the development of character education in an anti-bullying learning environment in the York Region District School Board.  The following is an overview of the school's Character Education/Equity and Inclusivity initiatives:
  • Student involvement in global leadership activities (i.e.. Variety of Community Outreach Programs, ECO Team initiative, Healthy Schools, Student Parliament and student groups such as Take Action and Imagine: Peace Project)
  • School staff hiring that reflect diversity and inclusivity of school population
