Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Dear UMPS Families,
Our Unionville Meadows PS staff have a strong commitment to student achievement and well-being, creating an environment where everyone feels safe, welcome and respected. As a staff, we see all of the students as OUR students. We take joint responsibility for each of their successes. We believe that all students have the right to feel like this is their home – that they belong and that they are respected as individuals and have a voice. It is important that our families feel this way also, especially during this unprecendented time. Our goal is the development of global citizens who will think critically, make decisions wisely, respect others, and behave responsibly, and we want to do this alongside you. We are extremely aware that this year has been taxing on our student's mental health...we are working hard to ensure all students feel like they have adults in the building they can come to for anything - to share joys, sorrows, to ask questions, and to just know that someone cares.
We believe communication is critical for student success. Your children, our students, must see us as partners in their education. Please do keep the lines of communication open. There are many ways to stay connected with what’s happening in our school. Please watch for our very detailed newsletters monthly.
We wish you all a happy, safe and successful rest of the school year. Please reach out if there is anything we can do to support you.
Krista Keirstead
