Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

It is with great pleasure that we take this
opportunity to welcome you to Wellington P.S.
The school was originally built as a Senior
school in 1968. Our school now houses
all Kindergarten to Grade 8 programs including Gifted Community Classes and a Regional Autism Classroom. Many students identified with the exceptionality of giftedness come from their home
schools in the Central area to attend Wellington P.S. Our school also serves
students and families from the immediate area of Aurora Village. Although some of our students return to their
home High School after Grade 8, many move on to either Dr. G.W. Williams S.S. or
Aurora High School for Grade 9.
We are very proud of our academic, arts and
athletics programs, as well as numerous extra-curricular activities.
Students at Wellington P.S. have the opportunity to participate in many
leadership opportunities including the running of clubs and participating in tournaments
that are held at our school. We encourage all students to become actively
involved in the various aspects of school life at Wellington P.S. We are
also very proud of the partnership we have with our parents/guardians,
volunteers and the School Council. These people contribute to the positive culture, well-being
and student achievement at school.
Agenda planners are designed to assist
students in the development of their learning skills and are an effective time
management, organization and communication tool. All classrooms use them to assist in communicating with families.
On behalf of the staff, we would like to welcome
our new and returning students to Wellington P.S. We look forward to this school year with great excitement and expectations that all of our students will
have a rewarding and successful year. The message of our Touchstone reinforces
that: At Wellington Public School everyone belongs.
