Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Page Content It is with great pleasure that we take this
opportunity to welcome you to Wellington P.S.
The school was originally built as a Senior
school in 1968. Our school now houses
all Kindergarten to Grade 8 programs including Gifted Community Classes and a Regional Autism Classroom. Many students identified with the exceptionality of giftedness come from their home
schools in the Central area to attend Wellington P.S. Our school also serves
students and families from the immediate area in Aurora.
I am excited to share our commitment to providing a high-quality education that aligns with the York Region District School Board's (YRDSB) Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
This plan guides our work with three key priorities:
- Student Achievement: We believe in high expectations for all students. We will provide engaging and rigorous learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and a love of learning.
- Health and Well-being: We prioritize the social-emotional well-being of our students. We will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where all students feel valued and respected.
- Human Rights and Inclusive Education: We celebrate the diversity of our school community. We will foster a culture of respect and understanding where all students feel a sense of belonging and have the opportunity to thrive.
At Wellington Public School, we will strive to:
- Offer a challenging and supportive learning environment: We will provide differentiated instruction and support programs to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Promote mental health and well-being: We will offer programs and initiatives that support student mental health, build resilience, and create a positive school climate.
- Celebrate diversity and inclusion: We will create a welcoming and inclusive school community where all students feel valued and respected for their unique identities.
We look forward to a year of growth, learning, and collaboration with our entire school community.
Sincerely,
Ruth Walker-Rosewood Principal, Wellington Public School
