Welcome to Wilclay Public School!

Wilclay Public School strives to have vibrant, welcoming and inclusive learning environment. We believe that all students can be successful in all areas of their school life, including academic success and personal well being.  To ensure that our students have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to flourish as 21st Century citizens, we provide them with opportunities to use technology as they learn from and with each other. Wilclay offers our students a wide variety of extracurricular and leadership activities that allow students to further develop and grow as individuals. We have three main areas of focus: differentiated instruction; bully prevention and inclusion; and parent and family involvement.

Differentiated instruction and assessment is a philosophy for effective teaching that involves providing students with different ways to learn information and to show what they know. The teachers at Wilclay adjust their teaching methods to accommodate each of their students’ individual learning needs and preferences, in order to achieve each child’s best performance. A differentiated classroom is one where all students are included and successful.

Ensuring that all students are safe and feel included in all aspects of school life is an important goal for all Wilclay staff. Bully prevention work is part of our school plan and embedded in classroom learning. Each year students participate in a variety of initiatives including: Bully Prevention Month, No-Name Calling Day and the Day of Pink. As a school, we also send student representatives to Board Conferences such as “Our Voice against Bullying” and “Together We’re Better”.

The staff of Wilclay understands that parents, grandparents and guardians are children’s first teachers. Because of this belief, it is important that we work together as a team in the education journey of each and every child.  To support families and include them in school life, we offer several initiatives in place including Curriculum Night, Literacy Night and the Wilclay Community Round Table. It is our goal that every visitor, parent or community member feels welcome as they enter the school. Our secretaries and administrative staff are available to answer questions or offer support.

We look forward to working with you.

Go Wildcats!
