Our School
History
Woodland P.S. was officially opened in 1967, Canada’s Centenial year.  Woodland Public School is surrounded by protected woodlots and although the exact origin of the name for the school is not clear, one visit to the site will give you a clue as to how it may have been named. The classroom windows face a conservation area and teachers and students can view the glory of each season.

Woodland was originally a Grade 7 and 8 Senior Public School and it still has that senior public school feel to it. It has the honour of having been one of the first French Immersion schools for the York Region District School Board. Teachers who visit Woodland often reflect on how they began their teaching careers as French Immersion teachers here.

Woodland is a small school community where everyone cares about each other. There is a close knit relationship between staff, students, and parents.

Our school motto is "Ensemble tout est possible!"

Our school mascot is "Le guerrier", the Woodland Warrior. It was selected in the spring of 2002 as a result of a contest that was spearheaded by the children of the Grade 7 class. The warrior mascot represents our constant vigilance against intolerance, injustice and ignorance.

Facilities
This year, we have 15 homeroom classrooms as well as several specialty rooms such as a music room, a science room, two computer labs and a library. Our gym divides in two and is extensively used by community groups.

We house a before and after school program called Le Club in classrooms.

We have a beautiful playground, and just this year, have begun to work on an outdoor classroom for our students.
