On behalf of the staff at Woodland, it is our pleasure to welcome back all of our students and their families to our school. We would like to extend a special welcome to all the new families who joined our school community over the summer months. We look forward to working together with our dedicated group of teachers and staff members to encourage, motivate, and support our students to do their very best each and every day, and to ensure that each student will be successful. The teaching staff is committed to meeting the needs of our dynamic student population. Both the academic and social development of our students are very important to our staff. We believe that students should like to come to school and want to learn. Extra-curricular programs are run by parents and staff. Technology is used to deepen learning in authentic purposes.
We are fortunate to experience the continued support of our community in all the endeavours of our students and teachers. Each year holds such promise and hope for all our students, parents and teachers. With our dynamic and dedicated staff, we will continue to build the cooperative partnerships between child, parents and teacher. We also encourage you to keep in touch with your child(ren)’s teacher(s) throughout the school year. If at any point in time you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with your child(ren)’s teacher(s).
A learning community requires the dedication of all stakeholders and it is our goal to work with you to make your child’s/children’s school experience a positive and happy one. As such, we value your involvement and welcome you into our school. Our teachers will be asking for volunteers to work with their students. As well, we welcome volunteers to help with pizza lunches, and for school field trips and events as well as council initiatives. Please help our school continue to excel by volunteering to help around the school whenever possible and by supporting our fundraising activities.
It is clear that this year is already off to a great start and that students have already begun to set academic and personal goals for themselves; goals that will challenge who they are and where they are coming from. We appreciate your support and look forward to working with you throughout the year.
We encourage you to use EDSBY to stay up-to-date with current information. We will use it to post information such as: registration to High Schools, news from our Community, information about our fundraisers, extra-curricular activities and workshops for parents as well as general information about our Board’s initiatives. “School Council” members will maintain this heading by posting agenda items and meeting minutes in a timely manner.
