Principal's Message

 Dear Parents/ Guardians and Families,

Welcome students and families to Armitage Village Public School. Since our opening, our school has proudly offered a vibrant, engaging and exciting learning environment for students and has become an integral part of our neighborhood and community. The last few years have proven to be challenging years for all of us. We look optimistically to this year as we discover our new normal and continue to work together to create  a community of learners in a safe, inclusive, fun and supportive environment.

We are so honoured to be the administrative team at Armitage Village PS. Our school is a diverse community, and we embrace our diversity as it makes us who we are. We treat everyone equitably and with respect. We know that families are a child’s first and most important teacher. We value strong relationships between our students, families, school staff and community members. Families support our school community in many ways. We have many family members who volunteer, visit for special events, and contribute to activities and initiatives that are happening at the school. We could not do all that we do without this support! School Council is another opportunity for families to become involved in our school community. We work together as a team in the education journey of each and every child to support families and include them in school life.

The staff members at Armitage Village Public School are dedicated to ensuring success for every student. We have high expectations for all of our students and we are invested in every student being successful. At Armitage we strive for both academic excellence and social responsibility. We work diligently to provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in all areas of the curriculum as well the arts and athletics. We encourage students to get involved around the school whenever possible. Student initiative and leadership is encouraged. Our team of teachers and support staff work very hard to ensure a supportive, positive environment within the school. The staff engages in on-going professional learning and they bring research based strategies to their classrooms for high impact outcomes.  We believe that strong relationships and good teaching are the keys to student success.

We would also like to extend a warm greeting to all new students and their families, especially to all the kindergarten students who will begin attending full time. We partner with Upper Canada Child Care who shares our facilities. They offer a variety of care options for ages 18 months - 12 years. If you are interested in learning more about Upper Canada Child Care, please call them directly at 905-830-9719.

Please contact the school with any questions. We look forward to working together and supporting one another in our continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ingrid Legros                  Ms. Holly Murdoch
