At Aurora Senior, we pride ourselves on our emphasis on the "Three A's" – Academics, Athletics and the Arts.  Through the hard work of the dedicated staff members, their students and our parent community we have been able to develop and provide programs that serve to meet the wide range of needs of our very diverse student population.  Examples of our efforts are:

Safe Schools initiatives that are very important at Aurora Senior P.S. include:
  • Anti-bully program
  • Character Education
  • Values, Influences and Peers
Character Education/Equity Education: An aspect of our School Plan for Continuous Improvement that is currently taking shape is the Character Education initiative. Morning announcements feature a "Thought of the Day" that fuels in-class discussions. Our students' council is supporting our initiative as is our School Council.  Included in this initiative is our support of an increasingly multi-cultural community.  The YRDSB remains committed to the inclusion of anti-racist and equity education in its policies and programs.

A Focus on Literacy: Literacy skills are critical for success in all aspects of life. As such, we are focusing our efforts to enhance our students' skills in reading comprehension.  Additional resources have been purchased for the library by the School Council and the staff members have supported the addition of Accelerated Reader to the library computers.

A Focus on Athletics: Aurora Senior has a long history of excellence in athletics. Our very large double gym is adorned with pennants won by our school teams. The is supported by an active extra-curricular program that runs through the lunch hour.

Parents as Partners: Our students' parents play a very important supportive role. Over the past few years they have been actively supporting our academic, athletic and arts programs.  It is our intent, over the next few years, to forge meaningful and fruitful partnerships with our students' parents. We all benefit from this strong alliance.
