To build capacity in the Geography program in such a way that students engage the interdisciplinary nature of our program by gaining a heightened awareness of ecological and global issues and critically assess the relationships that have shaped Canada and our world, both past and present.

What do Geographers do?
Geographers describe the changing patterns of places in words, maps, and via geo-technologies.  They explain how these patterns come to be and they continually strive to understand the physical and human places and spaces on the surface of the Earth (adapted from Geography For Life, 1994). Geographers are highly skilled people!  They posses knowledge of the earth’s physical and human environments and their interrelationships, they understand local, regional and global issues in terms of their social, political, economic, and environmental implications.  Geographers also demonstrate strong visual and spatial skills, analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, as well as strong critical-thinking & problem-solving skills.
