Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND GRADUATION - 2023-2024
The required number of hours for community involvement activities is 40 hours.
Please refer below for YRDSB COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT GRADUATION REQUIREMENT POLICY UPDATES:
Students will continue to be responsible for obtaining pre-approval for any activity that they are considering for this graduation requirement and all community involvement hours must reflect YRDSB's values and priorities. We hope that the changes to the policy will encourage more students to engage in community involvement activities that align with YRDSB’s strategic priorities. Additionally, if students choose to do more than 40 hours, they must receive pre-approval from their guidance departments due to the Board’s insurance policy. Please note that concessions made during the pandemic to allow students to receive credit for 10 hours of paid work and activities in the home are no longer in place.
Please refer to the form for information about eligible and ineligible activities for Community Involvement hours.
*Students are reminded to obtain PRE-APPROVAL from their Guidance Counsellor PRIOR to completing their Community Involvement hours to ensure the activity is eligible. Students are also reminded to follow Health and Safety recommended protocols when completing community involvement hours.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT FORM SUBMISSION:
Completed Community Involvement forms can be emailed directly to Mrs Catinella, Guidance Secretary, at barb.genova@yrdsb.ca or they can be placed in the drop box located inside the Guidance and Career Education Office (room 129).
