Applications Workshop

Scholarship Application Workshop on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

Promoting Racial Literacy in Schools
Parents/guardians and
students are invited to attend a virtual workshop with Dr. Howard C. Stevenson,
author of Promoting Racial Literacy in Schools on June 19 from 7pm-8:30pm. See

Student Exam Prep Webinar
On May 31st from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. students can learn from YRDSB Alumni, YRDSB Mental Health
Professionals, and Educators about the suggested preparation strategies to complete exams, and
culminating projects, and helpful wellness strategies.
Students will hear from former YRDSB graduates in a variety of pathways and career fields - including
university, college, apprenticeship, and gap year pathways in areas such as: arts, business, social
sciences, STEM, and trades.
Students can register to attend now using the link below! They can also submit any questions for the
speakers on the registration form. The deadline to register is May 30th, at 12 PM.

York Region District School Board Seeks
Parent, Family and Community Engagement Advisory Committee
(PEAC) Members
Parents/guardians interested in serving as a member of PEAC are asked to submit an application by June 14, 2023.
PEAC supports, encourages and enhances parent engagement at the Board level in order to improve student
achievement and well-being. It represents the collective voice of parents who have children attending public schools in
York Region. Members are expected to attend a minimum of five meetings each year. The first meeting date for the new
membership is November 9, 2023, which is a joint meeting with our Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Committee (EIAC).
Interested parents/guardians are invited to submit an application using the online application form. For a copy of the
application, please contact Leadership Development and Engagement via email at
leadership.development.engagement@yrdsb.ca or by phone at 905-727-0022 ext. 3650.

Parent/Caregiver Virtual Mental Health Workshop Supporting Students of the
Tamil Diaspora
June 1, 2023 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Parents and caregivers are invited to join this workshop to learn about supporting their children’s academic, emotional and social well-being. The session will provide practical tips to create space for open conversations about mental health and well-being, ways to provide support and resources available through YRDSB and the York region community.
