Commencement and Graduation

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Grade 12 students who will meet the Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements by the end of the school year will be invited to attend the Commencement/ Graduation Ceremony scheduled for the end of June.  A Potential Graduate list will be available at the end of April.  These students would receive invitations in May to attend the June Ceremony   Graduating students are those students who meet the OSSD requirements (30 credits minimum; 18 compulsories and 12 electives; minimum of 40 hours of Community Involvement; and the successful completion of the Literacy test/ course)

Potential Graduates are encouraged to apply for the many Awards presented at the annual Commencement ceremony.  Review the criteria for these and submit your application to the Guidance Office by the last Friday of April - 3 p.m.

Commencement Awards Application:
 
Applying for any of the awards requires 3 steps.
 
1.    Access the online application using Chrome. www.bit.ly/kcssawards  (Copy and paste the link in Chrome)
2.    Review the criteria for each award the potential graduate believes they are qualified for.  A separate application is required for each award.     The criteria are unique to each award but typically requires academic excellence and community and school extra-curricular involvement
3.    Once submitted online the applicant would receive an email indicating the next step of the application process.  PRINT the PDF attached to the email.  Sign the form and hand in to the Guidance Office ASAP and before the deadline of the last Friday in April.  Late applications will not be reviewed.
 
The Awards Committee will review all applications submitted by the deadline.  The applicant's academic transcript is also reviewed.  Award recipients will be announced at the Graduation Commencement Ceremony.  
 
We thank the contributions of the organizations and families who contribute to our Graduation ceremony.
 
 
King City S.S. School Letter
 
The King City S.S. School Letter is an award given to graduating students who excel in three main areas of school life…Academics, Activities (Music, Drama, Art, Other) and Athletics.  Points are awarded to each of these areas. THE SCHOOL LETTER criteria brochure.pdfSchool Letter criteria brochure   


The Junior Letter Requirements: A total of 240 points with a minimum of 60 points in each of the 3 areas
The Senior Letter Requirements: A total of 320 points with a minimum of 80 points in each of the 3 areas

Graduating students must complete the online application at www.bit.ly/kcssletteraward in order to submit their request for consideration before the last Friday of April.  Late applications will not be reviewed.

The Awards Committee will review all applications submitted by the deadline.  Details contained within an application will be verified by the Awards Committee.  School Letter Award recipients will be announced at the Graduation Commencement Ceremony.  ​
