Langstaff Secondary Technology Certificate Award
Students at Langstaff Secondary have the opportunity to earn the
Technology Certificate Award when they take a minimum of FOUR
Technological Studies credits. Awards are presented at the
Graduation ceremony. Employers and post-secondary institutions will recognize
that the recipient has successfully completed a concentration of courses in the
discipline. Please contact the head of the Department for more
information.
Specialist High School Major (SHSM) – Information and Communication
Technology
Students who are interested in earning co-operative education
credits in Gr.11 or 12 have the opportunity to sign up for SHSM. SHSM
provides students with specialized skills and accreditations in their chosen
sector. Langstaff Secondary offers opportunities through their courses,
clubs, field trips and workshops to students registered in SHSM. Many
costs associated with Technology Department events are covered by the SHSM
program. SHSM students receive a “red seal” SHSM diploma upon Graduation and
are eligible for the SHSM Graduation Scholarship Award. SHSM is an
excellent opportunity for career preparation, and college/university
applications.

TECH CREW
One of the most important clubs at Langstaff Secondary, Tech
Crew offers students with technological interests the opportunity to enhance
their skills through hands on activities.
Tech Crew members are integral in supporting the needs of the entire
school as they set up and manage sound, film, and display requirements for
major school events such as assemblies, dramatic productions, teams, and
clubs.
"Whether it's a small
presentation in the cafeteria or a dazzling drama show, if it's on Langstaff
grounds, you can always rely on the Tech Crew to be there to assist. They're
the experts when it comes to programming a show to life with colourful moving
lights or mixing and equalizing microphones and music. With Tech Crew's
presence, it is guaranteed that every event, whether big or small, will leave a
