YRDSB Literacy Definition

Literacy is the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable achievement, personal well-being and full participation in an interconnected and changing world community.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test will take place on Thursday March 30, 2017 for this school year. Students are expected to write the test in their grade ten school year. English Language Learners and students with Individual Education Plans are allowed accommodations that they would normally use in their classes to help ensure their success in this test. Deferrals are given to students who have not shown that they are reading and/or writing at a grade nine level yet and further supports are needed before they would be successful on the test.

If you have any questions about the test or our afterschool program please contact Raymond Luong, the literacy teacher at Maple High School at Raymond.Luong@yrdsb.ca

Further information about the test can be found at the EQAO website.
