Welcome to Milliken Mills High School Family Studies! Family Studies is where you can learn various skills such as sewing, cooking, and managing a budget. With a variety of courses, students will focus on developing practical, everyday skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, communication, financial literacy, and resource management. Students will also explores the diverse ways families function in Canada and globally, considering various family forms and cultural influences.
Family Studies courses encourage students to develop critical and creative thinking skills, enabling them to analyze relevant issues and explore a range of perspectives. Students will examine the changes associated with their own development and the impact on behaviour and needs. They will learn and apply social science research methods and inquiry skills to investigate topics related to individual and family needs and resources.
The goal of Family Studies and Social Science is to foster healthy habits that enhance individual, family, and community well-being.
