HPA: High Performance Athlete
The
High Performance Athlete Program is designed to support students who are
competing in sport at the provincial, national and/or international level.

One credit per semester, offered
semester one and two
Supervised training or competition for:
15 hours per week over a 4 month period: or
10 hours per week over a 10 month period; and the training season
aligns with the school year.

Attend monthly classes, individual conferences

Complete assigned HPA assignments

Cooperative Education: Subject based
The
Cooperative Education Program integrates classroom theory with practical
experience in the workplace. Co-op is based on a partnership between the
school, a business or community organization and involves the participation
of students, teachers and the workplace. It is a credit-earning program.

the morning or afternoon, three hours
Four Credits: full day, six hours
Co-op is offered semester one and
two

Attend a placement in your selected field and
further develop the skills and learning of the classroom

Attend Pre-placement, first two weeks of the semester

Attend Integration classes, every other Wednesday

Complete assignments that are designed to build skills and knowledge
and to promote you and your placement

Develop skills and knowledge that can be applied to
your post-secondary destination

Specialist High Skills Major
The Specialist High Skills Major is a Ministry
of Education approved specialized program that allows students to focus their
learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements to
graduate from secondary school. It also assists in their transition after
graduation to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace. Successful
SHSM students earn a Red Seal embossed on their OSSD and an official SHSM
Record documenting the SHSM credits earned.
Offered to grade 11 and 12,
usually completed over two years. Note: the SHSM certificate is integrated
with your studies at Richmond Green, it is not an additional work load.

SHSM Participants complete all
required components over their final two years of high school. Grades 11 & 12
Students will be excused from
regular classes to attend field trips and certifications.
All courses required are completed
in the student’s regular timetable and are based upon Pathway Charts that are
available for each sector.
Richmond Green offers three SHSM

Dual Credit: College
Dual Credit courses are for
Grade 11 & 12 students. As ministry-approved courses, Dual Credits
allow students (while they are still in secondary school), to take college
courses that count towards, both the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
and a postsecondary certificate, diploma, or degree. Students may earn up to
a maximum of four optional credits through college-delivered dual credit
courses.

Dual Credit: Accelerated
OYAP
A program
in which a student in semester two of their graduating year of high school,
is registered as an apprentice, completes all or part of their Level 1
(Basic) apprenticeship schooling in a specific trade at a college or training
institution, and earns hours/competencies towards their apprenticeship.
