F.N.M.I. Study Centre (First Nation Metis Inuit)

The First Nations, Metis, Inuit Study Centre is located in room 133 here at S.D.H.S.

Goals of the Centre are as follows:

  • To promote the First Nation Studies within The York Region Board of Education.
  • To Encourage cooperation between our community at large.  (The York Region Board of Education and First Nations People)
  • To Facilitate professional development for all staff  about First Nations Issues.
  • To provide direction and resources to enable First Nations students to take advantage of specialized training and employment opportunities.
  • To provide opportunities for positive interactions of First Nations People and the community at large.
  • To provide a source of resource materials to the schools of  The York Region Board of Education.
  • To foster a positive and culturally accurate image of First Nations people and their contribution to the fabric of today's modern world.
