Principal's Message

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

I am honoured and excited to welcome our new and returning parents and students to Thornhill Public School.  Each year holds such promise for our students as we embark on another year of academic exploration and activities that support student achievement.  Thornhill Public School has a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and the arts as well as strong community involvement. With our dynamic and dedicated staff, we will continue to build our cooperative partnerships between child, parents and teachers.

At Thornhill Public School we are committed to preparing our students for the future in an inclusive and welcoming environment.  We continue to explore the most effective strategies to guide our students in Literacy and Mathematics, while incorporating digital tools that enhance learning. We aim to utilize these strategies in a supportive and caring environment to help our students maintain strong mental health and develop coping strategies as the demands of our world continue to increase.  Together with our home and school partnership, we can support our students as they navigate through a world with endless possibilities.

"When parents are involved in their children's education, everyone benefits – students, parents, teachers, schools and communities. Great schools can become even better places to teach and learn, and student achievement often improves.  Publicly funded education means more than public funding. It means public participation: the community's commitment to the next generation."  from Ontario Ministry of Education.

An excellent way to make your contributions to the education of your children is to attend our School Council meetings to hear about school initiatives and meet other community members.

We look forward to working together with our families and community to provide an excellent education experience for all our students.

Lisa Hascal

Principal
