Health Active Living Education (Girls) PPL1O8
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Students will learn movement skills and principles, ways to improve personal fitness and physical competence, and safety and injury prevention. They will investigate issues related to healthy sexuality and the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and will participate in activities designed to develop goal-setting, communication, and social skills.

This introductory course gives students the opportunity to learn more about their personal fitness. Students explore the principles of training and apply them to their cardiovascular and muscular training programs. Activities may include the use of weight training machines and free weights, resistance band and plyometrics training, core strengthening and flexibility tasks. Healthy living components include nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, substance use and abuse and decision making.

Outdoor Education - CoEd PAD3O1
The aim of this course is to introduce participants to a variety of outdoor activities and the benefits that come from being physically active. Students will learn to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and meaningful manner while developing their interpersonal, decision making and leadership skills. Off-site day trips may include: hiking, fishing, skiing, mountain biking, rope and rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, snow shoeing etc. An extended camping or canoe trip will provide students with the opportunity to apply many of their newly learned skills and make course connections. Course fee for mandatory field trips: $150.00 plus cost of extended trip TBD. Pre-requisite: None

Exercise Science PSE4U1
This course focuses on the study of human movement and of systems, factors, and principles involved in human development. Students will learn about the effects of physical activity on health and performance, the evolution of physical activity and sports, and the factors that influence an individual’s participation in physical activity. The course prepares students for university programs in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, and sports administration.
