Pierre Elliott Trudeau students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including student activity council, clubs, and athletics.

Student Activity Council

The Trudeau Student Activity Council (SAC) plays a very important role in the school.  Comprised of an elected group of students, the SAC:

  • Acts as a liaison between the student body and staff, communicating student questions, concerns, and suggestions
  • Organizes activities and events that encourage student participation and promote school spirit
  • Supports and facilitates student clubs and committees
  • Provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills
  • Carries on school traditions and customs

For more information about the Trudeau SAC, visit the Student Activity Council Website.

Clubs and Committees

School clubs and committees are an integral part of the high school student experience.  They provide an opportunity for students to:

  • Get involved and explore various interests
  • Meet fellow students in the school and make friends
  • Contribute to their school and community
  • Learn about time management and prioritizing
  • Develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills

Athletics

Athletics is an integral part of Trudeau high school life.  Sports bring the entire school community together, whether playing, observing or cheering for Trudeau.  Students derive many benefits from participating in sports:

  • Having fun, while honing athletic ability
  • Exercising for better physical and mental health
  • Having a release from stress and increasing energy
  • Developing self-confidence and a healthy sense of competition
  • Developing leadership, communication and teamwork skills

The following chart shows some of the typical sports line-up each year at Trudeau.  For more information, please speak to the Athletics Department.

Your Student Trustees

Student Trustees act as a liaison between the school community and the Board. Each year they are chosen by members of the York Region Presidents’ Council, a body consisting of all Student Council Presidents in York Region public secondary schools.  The main objective of the Student Trustees is to give the student population a meaningful voice in Board deliberations and to act as a conduit for the flow of information and ideas between trustees, senior staff, and the student body.
