Co-curricular Activities
We offer a variety of field trips for students in our program. Over the past three years students have had the opportunity to go on the following field trips:
- Semester 1: Downtown Toronto Walking Tour, including: Chinatown, Nathan Phillips Square, Sankofa Square and Eaton Centre
- Semester 2: Sugarbush Tour at Bruce's Mill Conservation area
In the past few years the following clubs have been made available to our English Language Learners. The number of clubs offered each year depends on student interest and the availability of supervising teachers:
- Newcomer Orientation Program (NOW)

- Anime Club
- Gaming Club
- Movie making club
- Humanity Club
- Mandarin Club
- Friday After School Immigrant Youth Centre Homework Club and Social Circle

School Based Resource People
We are fortunate to have a Chinese settlement worker at the school on Thursdays or Fridays and a Chinese social worker on Tuesdays. Students may sign up in the guidance department if they or their families would like to meet with the social worker.
Community Based Resource
The Immigrant Youth Centre is a community resource centre where students may work on their English conversation skills, get assistance with homework, film projects, and resume writing, gain volunteer experience and leadership training, participatein table tennis, board games, sports programs, and music lessons, etc. it is located at 5284 Highway 7 East, Unit 2. Volunteer Opportunities
For those students interested in earning volunteer hours they may participate in the peer tutoring program. Students are placed in a variety of subject area classroom to assist the teacher and students in that class by translating, clarifying instructions and providing academic tutoring. Many of our ELLs enjoy this opportunity to help a fellow student develop their language skills.
