Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Art Unionville offers 4 disciplines in the arts program-Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, Music(Vocal, Strings, Piano, Brass/Winds/ Percussions)
Program Overview
The Arts Unionville program is a package of eight specialized arts courses for artistically talented students interested in Dance, Drama, Music or Visual Arts. The Arts Unionville program is held at Unionville High School.
This specialized arts program is available to students residing in CEC East for Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and Music: Winds and Vocal. Students wishing to study Strings may apply from York Region CEC East, and North (not students residing in the Alexander Mackenzie HS catchment area). Students wishing to study Piano may apply from all areas of York Region, no boundary restrictions.
At each grade level students can expect to work with guest
artists, attend performances/exhibitions and perform or exhibit their work at
venues such as the Markham Theatre, UHS, other schools and many community
locations. Field trips outside of Canada are scheduled periodically. The Arts
faculty includes the staff, many of whom are specialists in their field, and
guest artists, both working professionals and university arts students. The Arts
Unionville program services the needs of artistically talented students,
some of whom are exploring the possibility of a career in the Arts while others
simply enjoy the arts and want to develop their skills.
Admission
Admission to the Arts Unionville program at the Grade Nine (9) level is based on a successful audition/presentation and successful completion of the regular Grade Eight (8) program. Entry in grades 11 and 12 is currently closed.
Students choose to specialize in one of Dance, Drama, Visual Arts or Music (piano, strings, vocal, winds, brass, percussion). During this four-year program (Grades 9-12) the students study two Arts Unionville courses each year in Dance or Drama or Music or Visual Arts.
Students are expected to maintain acceptable levels of achievement in all subjects as well as excellent attendance and good deportment. Upon successful completion of the four-year arts program students will receive an Arts Unionville certificate recognizing their achievement and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.) will be awarded upon completion of the required credits.
There is an annual program fee for Arts Unionville students of $150.00, payable upon acceptance to the program and then each school year thereafter as long as the student stays in the program. With the continued commitment to excellence in the Arts Unionville program, the annual $150.00 Arts Unionville Fee supports an augmented learning experience over and above what is provided for students in a regular high school setting. Funds go towards guest artists, life models, professional workshops, costumes and unique learning experiences.
Students attending the Arts Unionville program are not entitled to Board provided transportation.

Unionville boundary throughout the entirety of the 4-year program.
Additionally, any changes to this primary residence address must be promptly
disclosed to the school's main office. It is noted that any changes to the student’s

and/or Unionville High School.
There are expectations regarding attendance, behavior, and
academic performance. These expectations are designed to foster a conducive
learning environment and ensure your success throughout your time at Unionville
High School. Failure to comply with these expectations may result in student

Attendance: Consistent
attendance is crucial for your academic progress and success. It is expected
that you attend all classes and arrive punctually. In cases of unavoidable
absences, please notify the school office or your teacher as soon as possible,

excellence in your studies by actively participating in class, completing
assignments on time, and seeking assistance when needed. Take advantage of the
resources available to you, including teacher support, tutoring services, and
