The Dance program allows students to develop their dance skills and
learn the basis for communicating through movement. Student learning includes
creativity, dance techniques, artistry, rehearsals, and performances. The
curriculum is based on the study of a variety of dance forms, with the main focus
on ballet, modern, jazz and composition.
The theory component includes the study of anatomy, healthy
body/nutrition, safety principles, the historical development of dance, and the
specialized vocabulary of dance criticism.
The program puts a strong emphasis on personal development and working towards
your potential within each designated area of dance. Dance is an artistic
and athletic skill in which you build an appreciation for artistic expression and
training. This program is a warm inviting environment and encourages students that are
passionate about dance.
