Audition Information



Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion

All students will:

  1. participate in a 60 minute group workshop, including a diagnostic theory assessment
  2. be required to sight read a piece of music
  3. be given a hearing assessment
  4. be interviewed
  5. be required to perform the etude from the .pdf files below
  6. be required to perform a solo of your choice – it may be accompanied, but an accompanist will NOT be provided
  7. play the following scales (one octave) – Bb major with arpeggio and Bb chromatic. Play each scale at comfortable steady tempo in eighth notes, ascending and descending. Chromatic scale should be performed twice – once all slurred and once all tongued.
Note:  Percussion/Drums: You must prepare the snare drum study, bells solo (both below) and both Bb scales listed above.
