Opportunities 303
Opportunities

As students progress through their compulsory and elective credits a great deal of time is spent on trying to identify career paths.  The Individual Pathway Plan facilitates this bi-annually but we also spend time in group discussions examining interests, skills and required courses to meet the desired goal.

Ultimately we will look at opportunities for the students to explore their interests in research with the possibility that in the Bayview Alternative Learning Experience Program, (B.A.L.E.P).  or the Co-op department they can get a placement for working in their field.

There are the Exploring Opportunities Program, (E.O.P.), that focus on automobiles and construction located in schools close to Bavyiew and this is also a possibility for a "Next Step" progression.

For those students who are almost completed their diploma there is also the Dual-Credit Program. This allows students to experience college level courses, earn college level credits as well as credits towards their remaining high school credit requirements.

Ultimately we are aiming at providing students with the chance of identifying a Pathway that intrinsically motivates them to pursue graduation from high school and beyond.  These students will be an example of life-long learners who are realizing their potential by combining their interests, skill sets and pursuing a career path which allows these various factors to combine and produce engaged and fulfilled individuals.
