Bayview Secondary School offers a wide range of business learning experiences that build practical skills and provide opportunities to explore our world. The Business Department has an active and committed staff who provide many opportunities for extended learning through activities such as DECA, Mock Trial Club, and Bayview Rotary Interact Club. Whether your interests be personal or international, the Business Department has a course for you.

The Business Studies Department at is one of the largest departments at the school. We have a dedicated staff committed to extra-curricular activities. Check out our current course offerings located on the Courses tab.

Our Mission

Our Department's Mission is to contribute to the growth of our students through their introduction to new ideas, new technology, and insights into life. We are committed to providing courses that enhance students' knowledge, attitude, skills, and development. Our students are better prepared for contributing to our community and beyond, for university or college and later successful careers where they will compete successfully in both Canadian and global markets. Students leave with the ethical standards, critical thinking skills and a willingness to embrace change, needed for life-long learning.

Profile of What We Offer

Students enrolled in Business Studies courses will:

  • be able to participate in the Specialist High Skills Major Business program
  • receive an official certificate if they take 5 or more business courses
  • be able to compete in Ontario Business Education Association contests Iin such areas as Accounting, Marketing, International Business and Business Leadership
  • hear from community and business guest speakers
  • have a variety of field trip opportunities
  • have in-depth preparation for university, college, or employment
  • understand the forces that influence our laws and economy
  • have an opportunity to join the School's DECA Chapter
  • have opportunities to participate in business-related Co-op placements
  • learn industry-standard software such as:
    • Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
    • Simply Accounting

Our Department maintains memberships in the Ontario Business Education Association. Our Department members participate regularly in professional development opportunities and networking with our peers.
