As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Coledale P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.
A focus on Literacy and Math Curriculum: Literacy is woven into the curriculum and supports for classrooms. Differentiated instruction allows for individual student needs to be addressed in an inclusive manner.
A focus on student leadership: Opportunities for student leadership include: lunch monitors for primary classes; organizing and running the milk program; tidying and organizing the gym equipment room, office helpers, and tech team. Intermediate students participate in a Student Council.
Parents as partners: Parent volunteers are in classrooms, the library, and the office. Through school council support we have been able to provide additional classroom materials, computers, science equipment, gym equipment, books, author visits, and musical instruments.
Creating a positive school climate: We encourage our students to reach their potential academically, socially and emotionally. We strive to provide an environment that promotes healthy life style and well-being.
Focus on Arts and Athletics: We have many school teams (cross country, volleyball, basketball...), both intramural and interschool as well as programs that promote the arts (band, choir...).
