Report (Kelly)
-Treasurer’s report was
presented to council
-$5000 still needs to be spent
from last year
-$2000 is allocated towards
operating budget
-$2800 was allocated towards
school pod redesign but only $1500 was all spent, therefore, funds
are still available towards this
project
-sports jerseys and ball catcher
purchased
-fun fair silent auction raised
approximately $1450
-49
chromebooks were purchased last year and similar version of smartboards were
purchased
for
kindergarten classes
-school
is constantly updating/ refreshing technology in the school
-exploring
Lego Mindstorm kits for coding
-Haafid motioned for $4000 to be
spent this year towards technology cost sharing with the school and Chris seconded
the motion (this was voted on by council last year)

-Amanda reviewed the different council
committees
-comments were made about
fundraising and how time consuming it can be so it was suggested that
fundraising events should try to raise more than $1000

School (Scott)
-Scott reviewed school’s website
-the school blog is linked with
the website
-the blog will include any
tweets, community events, daily announcements, and newsletters
-Orientation Night is September
26th from 5:00-7:30; there will be food trucks, music and then
parents can visit classrooms/teachers
-4 pillars that are the focus
for this year include:
-math, modern learning, mental
health and Indigenous education & equity
-discussion about the ‘YES’
revolution- youth who are engaged and successful along with being happy
-focus on building collaborative
relationship with students, parents, teachers; especially for those students who
may be falling outside the “YES circle”
-CVPS will be a featured school
at We Day; CVPS is one of two schools that have been
selected
-CVPS has an active Me To We
team in the school
-Scott and Myka spoke about an
exercise completed with the staff to create an inclusive and accepting
environment
-the centre of the diagram is
‘We are a village growing together’ and has outer circles to include concepts
of inclusion and real-life applications at school
-school wants to hear from students
and parents about how the school can be more inclusive and how to implement
changes to create a more accepting and inclusive environment
-Northern Karate registration
has begun for sessions to occur at school in the gym

Spirit Wear
(Chris)
-Chris feels that some of the
spirit wear options should be reduced because each different item has a set up cost
-suggested only selling non-zip
hoodies and short sleeve T shirts
-spirit wear will be sold in
October
-will have spirit wear promoted
at Orientation Night
Meeting Dates

-Amanda
reviewed the meeting dates and will email the dates to council members
-council
meeting dates are also posted on the outdoor school bulletin board and can be
found on
the
school website calendar
Event Dates
-Orientation Night will take place on September 26th
-will survey parents at Orientation Night;
survey may focus on how the school can be a more inclusive and accepting
environment
Other
-role
of Treasurer needs to be updated/ amended in constitution and review/ update
all roles if necessary
-Vivienne will be sending out a
communication newsletter weekly; school council can send her information about
anything that the council wants communicated to parents
-healthy
school liaison has a specialty in mental health
-discussion
about another hot lunch option on Fridays with Mother’s Deli
-the
lunch includes pasta or chicken and rice and costs $3.00; possibly increase the
price to $5.00 and may include juice box and a cookie
-council
needs to make sure that the vendor is board approved
-council
will speak to vendor about doing this hot lunch weekly
