& Acceptance of Current Agenda (Amanda)
-all were in favour of the agenda

of February 2019 Meeting Minutes (Amanda)
-Kelly accepted the minutes and Nilu seconded
the motion
3) Treasurer’s
Report (Kelly)
-the
vendor hasn’t been paid yet for the spirit wear
-gingerbread sales profit is $1,151.96
-the gross amount for hot lunches is $14,665
(Profit should be approx. $5,000 for the year)
-movie nights have raised $2,326.40 (just over
$1,000 each, one more in April)
-Cornell-A-Thon raised $4,048.72 plus $2,700
in donations online (not reflected on Report yet)
Allocation
of Funds
-request was made by school for approximately
$5,000 towards technology
-request was made by school for approximately
$2,500 for a water filling station on the second floor of school
-an email will be sent out by Amanda to vote
on spending funds for the technology and water filling stations requests

-the older students
assisted with being leaders for the younger students at the Cornell-A-
Thon
-will have another movie
night in April
-silent auction will
occur at Fun Fair; more items are
needed for the auction
-food trucks are
booked, a lot of vendors will be doing demonstrations / offering
memberships or free
classes
-will still reach out
to a few more vendors
-will have obstacle
course
-Council will sell
freezies in June
b) Parent
Engagement (Haafid)
-pro grant funds will be utilized at the Me to We Night
c) Healthy
Schools (Marie)
-will have a walk to
school day on April 24, 2019; will serve hot chocolate in the morning
-nurse has offered to
come in and do a workshop on the new Canadian Food Guide for
teachers or parents
-suggestion that this
could be a Parent Engagement night?
d) Yearbook
(Karen/Myka)
-the files need to be given to the printing
company by May 31st
-on June 4, 2019 the printer will give a
sample and the council/ school has one day to give feedback to the printing
company
-delivery date of the yearbooks will be June
20, 2019
-yearbook will have 100 pages
-there is a price increase of $0.78 per book
due to the increase in the price of paper
-Katherine will make collages for each class
from the pictures that the teachers submit
5) Update
From School (Scott)
-purchased some coding technology (Bee Bot,
Ozobots, Lego Mindstorms/ EV3’s, etc)
-Scott demonstrated some of the technology
-will implement music coding apps for
kindergarten to grade four
-48 new chrome books purchased and in use
-will have Me to We Family Night this
Wednesday, April 10th and the Eco team will have a station
-there will be a coding station at the Me to
We Night
-there will be several activities that are run
by the students
-musical “Shrek” will be on April 24, 2019 and
tickets are on sale
-approximately 200 tickets have already been sold
-grade 8 grad trip is May 1-3
-overnight trip for grade 6’s will be at
Laurier University in June
-discussion took place about possibly offering
the university trip to the older students in the future
-the school encourages all grade six students
to attend the trip to the university
-planning for fun fair is underway
School clubs include, but not limited to:
-junior basketball, Ted Talks club, badminton
club
-art club and science club for grade 3’s and
then will introduce it to the grade 2’s
-intermediate coding club
-board game group
-the new school met with parents after March
break
-portables will be closed for next year
-approximately 200 students will be going to
the new school and leaving Cornell Village Public School

Business (All)
a) Outdoor
Classroom / gardens:
-will make schedule to water and care for the
gardens and outdoor classroom during the summer
-the gardens need an
edge/ trim so that the mulch and soil can remain in the garden and
not spill outwards
-soil and mulch needs
to be purchased
-next
council meeting will be held on Monday,
May 13, 2019
