Committee Updates
and Upcoming Events:
a) Fundraising Update (Amanda)
Funds have
gone to help invest in the
school, including outdoor play accessories, outdoor garden,
technology, water
fountain for upstairs.
Aiming for $4,000 for technology for next
year
b)
Parent Engagement
(Amanda)
-request for
pro-grant funds due
next week will focus
on a family mental health night
-Amanda suggested for the
month of September have
a bit of cheer squad for kids
as they are
coming in the school - to help
with confidence building
c)
Healthy Schools (Marie/
Myka)
Healthy schools
met with a new nurse and will be carrying it over to next year. When Laura Crouse returns
will help to
participate/lead. Staying the
course to ensure proper training is place. Will need to
review what’s still available post
government spending
reduction.
d)
Yearbook (Karen/Myka/
Katherine)
-
As of
this morning - 245 units already purchased - we
purchased 375
-
Need to drive
purchases

Need to further
promote with grade 8s, etc

sell them at Grade
8 grad

Myka will send out communication
to teachers to help drive sales

Yearbooks

like to do onsite sales

Update From School (Scott/
Vivienne)
Scott thanked
the team for contributions on silent auction items
and support for yearbook. Teachers
helped to setup the fun fair,
which made it easier.
Record amount raised for
the hot lunches and
dance-a-thon Should start earlier
with hot lunches
Scott broke
down upcoming events taking place
over the next week as school winds down
Indigenous
Equity Strategy team
Glen Marias
is returning for
Friday and kids will be wearing orange
Yearend assembly June 26th
- with a clap out for kids moving schools
School Changes
200 students moving to new school, and 23
staff are moving on
K & 1 are being hosted at CVPS while school is being finalized. They will
be
a mini school
within a school.
On a completely different timetable.
School will be
sending out placements a week ahead of first date
Current population
is over 700 and reducing
it down to under
500 - Niro mentioned
that we should
be aware of the reduction of numbers
will impact fundraising in
2019/2020
Scott invited the
counsel to the volunteer
breakfast on Thursday
