$7355 donations in December!
Current total $18,561.10 ($2-$3K on average in the past; we did receive a huge

future fundraising initiatives)
-
much of this has been earmarked
for future projects (arts & craft program, snack program, outdoor garden)
-
Kids are using the snack
program, LeeAnn will look at another grant for $8000 next year for an outdoor

Virtual learning - Paula able
to keep the same price for us $200/class (we did 3 last year). Normal rate is
$250/class. Do 3 classes and save $200 for families who want to join but may
not be able to financially (getting groceries, etc.)
●
1.5 hour per class, focus on
one dish instead of two so we can allow more time for talking. Aim for
Wednesday evenings.
■
Choose another Chef to showcase
different cultural foods?
●
Find a parent or someone in the
community that can partake in the workshop and share their culture and talk
about the food they are preparing.
●
Include a few minutes to talk about
mental health as a preamble; an intro about why this is a great workshop to
keep the community connected and how cooking can help cope with mental health.
●
What cultures can we highlight
that will reflect our diverse community?
●
Does it have to be food?
●
Heidi can help with dairy-free
and gluten-free modifications to recipes
●
LeeAnn will reach out to the Community Partnership Developers Team as a
resource to look for professionals that can assist.
●
Communication
○
Great job Heidi and Karen for
keeping on top of our FB group!
○
Need to write a little blurb in
Scott’s Weekly Newsletter - Sarah will follow up.
○
Topics on FB group may vary and
can be healthy and civil, and we should promote discourse and encourage
discussions, share information, etc.. Will just need to monitor unhealthy
dialogues and comments if that is an issue.
●
Constitution Review
○
Sarah, Haafid, Amanda and Scott
will set up a date and get it done.
●
Sustainability
○
Wendy, Heidi and LeeAnn will
connect to follow up on some sustainability actions

Board Priorities
and goals for our School Council
○
“We Are a
Village Growing Together” - last track about 2 years ago and working on getting
back on track.
○
Data we
received back in November from Board-wide survey (Every Student Counts) is
about 4 years old. CVPS Admin would like to conduct a mini survey that will
reflect our school currently.
■
Facts:
●
20% of
students speak 2 or more languages at home;
●
60% of
students come from families where one or more parent has a university degree;
●
Over 85%
of our families have been in the community for at least one year
●
Across
the board we are pretty much in alignment with Board numbers
●
Great job
re: diversity (indigenous, gender ID, etc.)
■
Challenges:
●
20% of
our students do not feel like they belong
●
Only 81%
feel like it’s a welcoming place compared to CEC average of 90%
●
Only 79%
feel safe
○
LeeAnn to
meet with Leadership Team on January 25th to discuss action plan for next
steps: Survey? Schoolwide initiative? How to be an Anti-Racist?
○
Ms.
Skinner is working on a pilot project with Gr. 7 and 8: Student Voice in Spoken
Word. Their goal is to create an educational piece and share their individual
experiences. Will work with Indigenous artist from one of last year’s
activities to create a mural in the school.
