3)   Committee Updates

a.    Parent Engagement – discuss dates & event ideas –

The Parent Engagement Committee’s theme this year revolves around Mental Health. On Thursday April 16th, Council will be hosting a Mental Health Family Evening. This will  help bring awareness to the various rooms the school has available to the students.

During the night there will be various rooms where families can go and get information

on topics such as preteens, healthy living, fit girls, smoking/vaping, addictions (drugs & gaming), yoga/breathing, transitioning to Secondary School and more. We will also be hosting workshops for kids only as well as parents only. The school nurse maybe available to come out and guest speak. We will also be reaching out to more candidates to come out and guest speak. Committee needs to meet and start work on this.

b.    Sustainability – focus on outdoor classroom this year –

construction will begin in the spring. A Retaining wall will be designed and built. A few parents have volunteered to help out with this.

4)   Treasurer’s Report 2018/ 2019 (Liz) –

Funds remaining $18,762.44, started with $11,000 remaining, from last year. Barritone was just purchased for the music room, 5 iPads purchased for music program, movie night numbers will be confirmed soon.

5)   Update From School (Scott/ Vivienne) –

House Team day Wednesday November 20th after lunch. Grade 7’s just came back from their trip to Lake Saint George. May 27th-May 29th Grad Trip pending strike.

Upcoming House challenge, collecting new mitts/scarfs/hats donating to kids in need.

Scott & Vivienne have reminded everyone that parents should go to the google doc for the school announcements as well as read the emails from the school and check the website as well as the blog for upcoming events as well as fundraisers.

6)       New Business (All)

a.    Set dates for Cornell-a-thon – February 26th 2020 – Depending on Strike May need parent volunteers

b.    Fun Fair – Thursday June 11th 2020

c.     Mental Health Family Evening – Thursday April 16th 2020

d.    Principal Profile – Due November 29th 2019

                      e.    Movie Night – Wednesday December 18th – Abominal 6pm – *reminder that parents must stay with their kids for the movie.*

                      f.      Yearbook – Kelly & Nilu have volunteered their time to put the yearbook together to make sure there is a yearbook for this year.
