Elder's Mills Public School
Elder’s Mills Public School was founded in 2004, servicing students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. It began as a small, English-track school.
In 2009 Elder’s Mills added the French Immersion program and became a dual-track school. We had students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 receiving programming in our English Track. We also had Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in our French Immersion program. The French language program grew by one grade each year and added another level of diversity at our school.
In 2013 we became a single track French Immersion school housing grade one to grade eight students. We currently transitioned to becoming a grade two to eight French Immersion site with grade one students attending Lorna Jackson P.S. for the FI program.
Our present enrolment is just over 600 students, with 42 staff members (including support staff) and 25 homeroom classes.
We have a full Resource Library with materials to support teaching and learning for our staff and students. We continue to review, edit and enhance our collection, seeking culturally responsive resources in both the English and the French language that will reflect our community. We have an Instrumental Music program in our upper grades. We are also a Platinum certified Eco-School with many initiatives to help the environment.
We offer a variety of extra-curricular opportunities throughout the year. We offered opportunities such as a GSA, Student Leadership Club, Lunch Monitors, Band, Bucket Drumming, Primary reading club, Coding club, Eco Team and much more. We hope to be able to offer as much and more this school year.
