Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Page Content As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Elder’s Mills P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and through other co-curricular activities.
Our school promotes a safe and supportive learning environment. This is done through the Board’s Safe Schools Policy and Procedures, the Caring and Safe Schools Initiatives, Restorative Approaches and Student Mental Health and Well Being supports, in addition to the variety of classroom approaches implemented by our teachers (e.g. Cooperative Learning through the TRIBES process).
The following are some of the co-curricular programs we offer our students:
- Guest speakers and workshops i.e. Bullying Prevention Presentation
- Artistic Performances i.e. dance, music, drama,
- Sport Teams, Tournaments and Events i.e. Cross-country, Volleyball, Basketball Teams, Badminton, Track and Field, Terry Fox Run
- Clubs i.e. Band, Choir, Art, Eco-School, etc.
- Student Leadership programs i.e. School Spirit, Charitable initiatives
- Grade 6 VIP program in partnership with YR Police
