Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

The University of Toronto National Book Award Program recognizes and rewards the very best Canadian secondary school students, regardless of which university those students choose to attend. These are students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. Please note: You do not have to type on the template provided for the nomination form. Please upload your completed application to the Hodan Nalayeh Regular Scholarship Submission form by October 7, 2024 at 8:30 am.
***If you are the Book Award winner, University of Toronto will immediately invite you to apply for the University of Toronto National Scholarship which is due on October 17, 2024. Only the Book Award Winner will be able to apply for the National Scholarship. The application for the University of Toronto National Scholarship can be found here.
The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program at the University of Toronto is intended to recognize international students
who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who
are recognized as leaders within their school. A special emphasis is
placed on the impact the student has had on the life of their school and
community, and their future potential to contribute positively to the
global community. In order to be considered, you must complete the on-line application and upload a completed copy to the Hodan Nalayeh Regular Scholarship Submission form by October 7, 2024 at 8:30 am. Please note:
You do not have to type on the template provided for the nomination
form.
***If you are the selected Hodan Nalayeh Secondary School nominee, you must apply to the University of Toronto by October 18, 2024 and you must submit your scholarship application to the University of Toronto (they will provide the submission instructions) by November 8, 2024. AES Engineers Scholarship
“Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.”
Need to be well rounded, have demonstrated character, leadership and a strong commitment to service in the community.
- Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
- Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.
Deadline to apply is October 15, 2024.
Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in Grade 11 with financial need (family income under $65,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record.
Aircraft Electronics Association Educational Foundation Scholarship
Since its inception, the AEA Educational Foundation has awarded more than $1.5 million to students seeking careers in the aircraft electronics and aviation maintenance industry, as well as technicians from AEA member companies.Numerous scholarships are available, ranging from $1,000 to more than $35,000 each.
