During this course students will
learn advanced common construction methods and systems used in modern
construction technology.
Throughout the
semester, the students will be taught the proper and safe use of
various construction and woodworking tools. They will also learn the safe
operation of equipment and machinery such as Miter
Saws, Jointers, Wood Planers, Table Saws, Band Saws,
Routers and Drill Presses.
The students will learn advanced methods to
measure, layout, plan and build construction projects developing
knowledge, skills and abilities communicated to them through their teacher and amongst
their peers.
The students will be shown
the basics of conventional platform home construction from site
preparation and building foundations, to beams and floor framing, to
wall and roof framing, and to home mechanicals.
