Below are some of the opportunities available to students:
Fall
Plays: Each year in the fall L.S.S puts on one large production for the
Fall Play. Students can audition the last week of September or they can
volunteer to help out back stage. Students who are interested in
performing in the fall play are recommended to take our senior Dramatic Arts
courses.
Spring
Shows: Each year our grade 12 Dramatic Art students put on the Spring
Shows. The grade 12 students are able to write their own play or choose
an already existing play to workshop. The auditions are open to the whole
school and the actors range from grade 9-12 students. Students who are
interested in directing a Spring Show must take ADA4M.
Tech
Crew:
We have an amazing opportunity for students who want to work behind the stage
at L.S.S or help out with assemblies and school events. Our Tech Crew
learns how to use our modern lighting and sound boards. They have the
opportunity to learn how to create lighting and sound for plays, as well as how
to do lighting and sound for school events and assemblies. Each year a
student is also appointed Head of Tech and are recommended to take ADA3M and
ADA4M.
Backstage: Each year, students
volunteer to help out with make-up, costumes, set, etc. There are many
volunteer opportunities for students to get involved in Dramatic Arts.
Students who take the senior level courses are also given production roles and
take on roles such as: assistant director, costumes, set, sound, lighting,
stage manager, publicity, etc.
Music
Night:
Once a year, our music students also have a Music Night where they showcase
their vast amounts of talents. Throughout the school year, our music
students are also invited to play at school events to showcase their talent.
