Contests
Students can participate in several contests offered by the University of Waterloo. These contests are an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving ability. Students should listen to the announcements and ask their teachers for registration information.
Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Mathematics Contests
The Pascal, Cayley and Fermat contests are designed to test ingenuity and mathematical insight. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving. These contests normally take place in February each year.
Students in Grade 9 or below are eligible to write the Pascal Contest.
Students in Grade 10 or below are eligible to write the Cayley Contest.
Students in Grade 11 or below are eligible to write the Fermat Contest.
Euclid Contest
The Euclid Contest is for Grade 12 students. The problems are based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including the final year of secondary school. A list of possible topics is given in this
flyer. The contest is normally written in April each year.
