Welcome to Sir William Mulock Secondary School! Our school serves
a diverse community including over 1300 students who have many interests and
abilities. Our goal is to support all students. Our focus is to enhance
student well-being, learning and achievement. We do this by maximizing the
opportunities our students have to pursue their future goals, and providing
programming that is engaging, dynamic and relevant to meet their needs today
and prepare them for tomorrow. We offer students a wide range of courses
and specialty programs to support their success in any post secondary pathway, including
university, college, workplace and locally developed courses, Specialist High
Skills Major (SHSM) programs, High Performance Athlete (HPA) program and
apprenticeships. We are home to a number of community class
programs, which support those students who require specialized program
opportunities. Our Personalized Alternative Education (PAE) Department
helps to provide students who have struggled with traditional school structures
in the past with an individualized program that meets their needs.
Sir William Mulock Secondary School it is committed to developing the
knowledge, skills and attitudes of it’s students as 21st Century
Learners. Our Blended Learning Program, which marries the use of personal
technology with strong instructional practices, seeks to prepare our students
for life beyond high school in the 21st Century. Our focus on technology
serves to enhance the learning environment provided by our teaching and support
staff.
Our dedicated and caring teaching and support staff, of more than 120,
provides a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment where the
contributions of all students are affirmed. We encourage students to choose
courses and specialty programs that offer a balanced approach to academics and
co-curricular activities. Students have many opportunities to become involved
in leadership courses, participate in a variety of activities in athletics, the
arts, robotics, technology and student government. We work closely with
parents/guardians to support and encourage students in their academic pursuits
and believe that we are partners in every student’s education and well-being.
Our courses reflect a focus on literacy across the curriculum, critical
thinking and developing the skills that students will need to thrive in this
ever changing world. We encourage students to work collaboratively with peers,
use technology effectively, communicate in a variety of forms and develop problem-solving
skills that enable them to transition successfully to post secondary programs
and workplaces. Our graduates regularly receive awards, scholarships, program
offers to universities and colleges of their choice, and return to let us know
that the preparation and time spent in our school served them well.
