Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Dear Families of Pierre Berton P.S.:
Welcome to another exciting year at Pierre Berton PS!
On behalf of the entire Pierre Berton P.S. community, I want to welcome you.
At Pierre Berton Public School, we are strongly committed to providing a challenging and engaging learning environment focused on student achievement and well-being. We are strongly committed to ensuring we have a welcoming, safe and inclusive learning environment. We will continue to ensure positive climates for learning remain at the forefront of all that we do as this is the foundation to a strong learning environment.
We continue to strive to create a community of learners and thinkers together. We believe that it is important for our students to develop strong critical thinking skills, as well as the skills of collaboration, communication and reflection. We are working to develop a community of thinkers who understand that it is important to be open-minded, respectful of others' ideas and opinions and to be able to provide strong evidence to support responses and decisions. In addition, we will continue our work in the area of mathematics working with our students to develop their knowledge and skills. We have placed a specific focus on problem solving in mathematics. We aim to provide a challenging and engaging learning environment focused on student achievement and well-being.
We look forward to working with all of our families throughout the year.
