Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

The Mission of the York Region District School Board is “To advance student achievement and well-being through public education, which motivates learners, fosters inclusion, inspires innovation and builds community.
We provide flexible learning opportunities that reflect the diverse needs of students as future citizens in a changing global society.
Vision
To empower all students to become engaged and caring citizens of the world.
Providing: programming that flexible, supports, extends and enhances instruction for each learner. programs that allow students to develop the ability to understand, think, apply and communicate effectively using a variety of texts reflective of all identities and experiences. access to quality curricular learning resources that may be used to extend, enhance and enrich learning opportunities for students. access for all students to learning that is personalized for their profile, interests, abilities and needs. providing a rigorous curriculum that supports continuous progress for every student. support for students at risk through supportive and remedial strategies and involvement with special partnerships and programs.

We embrace the spirit of innovation that acts to realize opportunities to transform our vision into reality.
We endeavour to implement curricula and develop our students’ self-directed, self-motivated and self-assessment skills. We understand that each learner is a participant in an active learning community, and must have opportunities to explore and grow with hands-on opportunities, including the use of technology. We strive for students to be engaged in learning that is relevant to them and to the world in which they live. We believe integrating learning creates a learning environment that is meaningful and relevant, extending beyond the walls of the school to include local and global communities. We believe students, regardless of their background, need to be aware of changing skill sets (to manage information, think and solve problems using appropriate contexts, materials and technology) that will be important to future employment.
