Welcome to the Business Department!

In 2006, over a third of Canada's workforce of approximately 14.5 million people was employed in the fields of trade and commerce, fiance and insurance, adminstration, and real estate and leasing. (Stats Canada).

Many people—parents, students, and even educators—operate under the erroneous assumption that business education is only for students who expect to graduate and pursue a career in business.  The information contained within the business education curriculum is not only valuable for all students in today's world, but also is critical for the success of our country. Eventually, all students will encounter the world of business, whether they work in a Hospital or a Hair Salon. They must be prepared to engage in business activity with confidence and competence.  Young people need to understand how business functions, the role it plays in our society, the opportunities it generates, the skills it requires, and the impact it can have on their own lives and on society, today and in the future.
