Welcome
to the Computer Studies Department at Unionville High School
We
offer Computer Science courses where the focus is learning programming
languages, developing algorithms, problem-solving and the utilization of a
variety of application software tools for a variety of purposes. Depending on
students’ interests, our programs prepare our students to take a variety of
paths including University, College and workplace. For students who take the
courses for general interest, would benefit from the computing and application
skills that they would be developing that could be applied in a variety of
subject areas, the problem-solving skills they would be acquiring when
developing and using digital technologies and the appreciation they
would develop towards this subject area of computing.
Please see the table below for the courses we offer:
Computer Studies courses are highly recommended for many university or college programs. Many post-secondary programs require a computer course(s) as a degree / diploma requirement. We feel that taking a computer science course will provide a solid background, in problem solving using computer technology, for our students to be successful in possibly any of their pursuits beyond high school.
We also offer several co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities such as:
Computer Club (after school), Robotics Club, Contest Participation at local,
provincial and National levels, field trips and guest speakers.
We invite you to take a
look at the course descriptions and the co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities
that we offer our students. Please feel free to contact us if you have any
questions.
Thank you,
