Regardless of a student’s post-secondary
pathway, the transferable skills learned in the English classroom will prove to
be invaluable. Our English classrooms promote the 21st Century Competencies as
outlined in the document 21st Century
Competencies. These skills include: Critical
Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Innovation.
Note:
Most post-secondary programs require either Grade 12 College English or Grade
12 University English.
For students interested in the Workplace
Pathway, the skills gained in the English classroom will help them
communicate effectively with co-workers and clients. As well, literacy skills
will help them communicate their ideas in written format.
For those students interested in the College
and/or Joint Pathway, there are many programs available for those who
wish to pursue further studies in English. These programs include, but are not
limited to: Advertising and Marketing, Behavioural Science, Broadcasting (Radio
and Television), Business, Child and Youth Care, Community Development and
Social Innovation, Community and Justice Services, Creative Advertising,
