Welcome to the Alexander Mackenzie High School website. Whether you are
returning or this is your first year at our school, I look forward to
connecting with you so that together we can support the strengths, needs and
goals of all of our learners. The start
of the school year has always been an exciting time of the year as it comes
with the opportunity to set new goals, make new friends, and develop new habits
which will lead to success. I trust that you will enjoy your time here.
Alexander
Mackenzie H.S. offers a wide variety of courses and programs that support all
pathways and learning styles including, the Arts Mackenzie Program, IB
Programme, Alternative Education, Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Program and Exploring Opportunities Program, just to name a few
Our
school’s mission statement states that “together, in a safe and secure school community, we will
engage in dynamic learning that prepares open-minded individuals who will make
a difference in our world.” We have a
dedicated and enthusiastic staff that is committed to developing the whole
child with a focus on student achievement and well being, and to cultivating an
environment where everyone feels safe, respected and included.
The
combined strength of successful relationships between parents and school
empowers students to grow to their full potential, equips them with the tools
necessary to become responsible citizens in our changing world community, and
it gives them a mindset to open their horizons.
Students,
by pursuing academic excellence and involvement in co-curricular activities in
school and community, you can ensure that your high school career will prove to
be both successful and enriching. Students are reminded that
opportunity and success looks a lot like hard work, have the courage to extend
yourself beyond who you are towards who you would want to become. Get involved
in school life and do your best. We look
forward to watching you grow, learn and succeed.
On
behalf of the administration team and the school staff, I would like to wish
you a successful and exciting school year.
