September 4, 2023
Hello, Milliken!
I would like to welcome everyone to MMHS – whether you are a
returning student or new to our school.
This year, we are expecting close to 1500 students, with about 390
incoming Grade 9 students. We also are anticipating
the arrival of a number of international students. I would also like to welcome all
parents/caregivers to the MMHS school community. Parents/caregivers are our greatest partners
in education.
Here are a few reminders:
·
September 5 is the first day of school for Grade
9 students and Community Class students.
September 6 is the first day of classes for all other students.
·
The Guidance Department is working diligently
on making last-minute timetable adjustments. If you need a change made to your timetable,
please complete the Google Form before September 13: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfdUTIHj6JwFtH0MkMaWh2i6X_0W8b_8aQuFITuZO6K5I-kGg/viewform Please be patient as the Guidance Counsellors
work through this process.
·
Please pay the Student Activity Fee of $40 as
soon as possible. These funds are used
to support clubs and events at the school to continue to make Milliken a great
place to be, learn and grow.
·
Parents/guardians are invited to join the School
Council. The first meeting and the
election of members will take place on Monday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the
school library.
·
Students (and visitors) should screen themselves

every day before coming to school.
This year, the school is welcoming about a dozen new staff
members. They are excited to join MMHS
and enhance your educational experience here.
The new school year offers the perfect opportunity to challenge
yourself in class, make new friends, try different activities, develop better
habits, and improve the community. I
hope you are as excited about what the new school year brings as the teachers
and school staff are. The 2023-2024
school year is going to be great!
