How do I register to attend Unionville High School?
Why are grade 9 courses destreamed?

Schools in Ontario will no longer stream students into Academic and Applied courses in Grade 9.  Most students entering grade 9 will take Academic English, French and Geography and will take de-streamed Math and Science. For more information, visit the YRDSB website here: De-Streaming Information
How do I learn more about the STEM program?
    • Information about our STEM program can be found by viewing our brochure here: STEM Brochure & Program Details
    • CURRENT GRADE 8 STUDENTS must click here to register for the STEM program: STEM Program Application Request Form
    • Please note: The online registration form must be completed using Chrome and you must have a Google account. Only a parent or guardian can complete the registration form.
    • A separate registration form is required to attend Unionville High School. If your child is not registered, please call the Guidance department at 905-479-2787 x 458 to register.

Where can I find information about the ARTS program?
    • Please consult the Arts Unionville Website for more information
    • Students must apply using Edsby. Instructions for existing and new users can be found here: Edsby Registration InstructionLog into Edsby to view the application from November 15th until December 6th. An ePortfolio is required and will be communicated at a later date.

Please check out the following links to learn more about each discipline and the arts at UHS!

Students can participate in both programs.  Students would select courses for STEM beginning in Grade 10.

What supports are available for students?
  • Academic Supports:  Teachers, Peer Tutors, Student Success, Literacy Teacher, ELL Department, Guidance, Online Resources

Special Education:

  • What is an Identification and Placement Review Meeting (IPRC)?
  •  My child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), will this continue in high school?
  •  What is Learning Strategies? Should my child take it?
    • Yes, we strongly recommend students take Learning Strategies in both grade 9 (GLE101) and grade 10 (GLE201). The grade 9 course provides a lot of support with the transition to high school, while the grade 10 course prepares students for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).
    • Learning Strategies, GLE101
  • Can my child attend Arts Unionville and or STEM and take Learning Strategies?
    • Yes, your child can participate in both of these programs while taking the Grade 9 Learning Strategies, GLE101.

When does the STEM program registration form open?

The STEM program registration will open in early December.  Please note that this program is only open to students who live in the UHS boundary.
My child is currently a YRDSB Grade 8 student at Stonebridge Public School. We are interested in the STEM program at Unionville High School.  May I know if he is eligible to apply and also if there are requirements for assessment ? Thank you!
Only students who live in the Unionville High School catchment (i.e. we are the home school) are eligible to apply to the STEM program.  Students may transfer to UHS, but not for the STEM program.  All students can take part in the same science, engineering, technology, computer science, and mathematics courses, regardless if they are in the STEM program or not.  All students can participate in all extra-curricular activities (e.g. robotics club, math club, etc.) regardless if they are in the STEM program or not.
When will the STEM program application form be available for the 2022-2023 school year? We expect to have the STEM application available in early December. Please continue to check our website.
What's the likelihood of acceptance for transfer into Grade 9 from out of boundary and a private elementary school? We are open to transfers for the 2022-2023 school year. Please contact us in January to obtain a transfer form to complete this process.

I understand that there's an Arts Program as well as a STEM Program at UHS. Is there a program that combines both Art and STEM into one? If so, how do you apply for this program?

Although we do not have STEAM (combination of both the ARTS and STEM), students who are accepted in the Arts Unionville program can also participate in the STEM program if they live in our boundary.
