How do I register to attend Unionville High School?
How do I learn more about the STEM program?
    • Information about our STEM program can be found by viewing our brochure here: STEM Brochure & Program Details
    • CURRENT GRADE 8 STUDENTS must click here to register for the STEM program: STEM Program Application Request Form
    • Please note: The online registration form must be completed using Chrome and you must have a Google account. Only a parent or guardian can complete the registration form.
    • A separate registration form is required to attend Unionville High School. If your child is not registered, please call the Guidance department at 905-479-2787 x 458 to register.

Where can I find information about the ARTS program?
    • Please consult the Arts Unionville Website for more information
    • Students must apply using Edsby. Instructions for existing and new users can be found here: Edsby Registration InstructionLog into Edsby to view the application from November 16th until December 7th. An ePortfolio is required and will be communicated at a later date.

Students can participate in both programs.  Students would select courses for STEM beginning in Grade 10.



What supports are available for students? 
  • Academic Supports:  Teachers, Peer Tutors, Student Success, Literacy Teacher, ELL Department, Guidance, Online Resources

  • Personal Supports:  Guidance Counsellors, Student Success, School Social Worker, Teachers/Coaches/Staff Advisors, Student Services (SERT’s & EA’s), Inclusive Schools and Community Services, Family Services York Region, Community Care and Access Support


Special Education:
  • What is an Identification and Placement Review Meeting (IPRC)? 
  •  My child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), will this continue in high school? 
  •  What is Learning Strategies? Should my child take it? 
    • Yes, we strongly recommend students take Learning Strategies in both grade 9 (GLE101) and grade 10 (GLE201). The grade 9 course provides a lot of support with the transition to high school, while the grade 10 course prepares students for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

  • Can my child attend Arts Unionville and or STEM and take Learning Strategies? 
    • Yes, your child can participate in both of these programs while taking the Grade 9 Learning Strategies, GLE101.

Can we choose more than one division within the art program? For example choosing both visual arts and music.​

You can apply to both disciplines; however, you may only accept one offer. You cannot be in the Arts Unionville Intensive program for more than one discipline.
​We will transfer from Alberta to York summer 2021, but do not have proof of address yet. How do we go about applying for my daughters for Grade 9 and Grade 10 respectively? What do you need from our current school for my Grade 10'er to receive credits for her Grade 9 subjects?​ Once you have an address in Markham, please book an appointment with the Reception Centre. You will need a transcript from your children's school in Alberta.​
Why do we need to pay a $25 fee? the $25 fee is only for students applying to the Unionville Arts Intensive Program. This fee pays for the ajudication of the students' e-portfolios.
​When do we audition? ​The e-portfolio and interview details will be communicated in December to students who have applied through Edsby.
I'm a student who currently lives in Toronto and will be moving to York Region by the beginning of the next school year, and I would like to apply to the STEM program. Am I eligible to apply?You must live in York Region ​at the time of application. You may enroll to UHS once you have moved.
I've heard from a friend of mine that because of the current COVID-19 situation we will all be attending our homeschool even though we have signed up for a transfer and specialized program, our chances are slim. Is that true? No. Covid-19 will not affect your request to transfer or apply to a specialized program for the 2021-2022 school year.​

You may apply to two disciplines; however, you can only specialize in one. You can choose to take additional classes in music, dance, drama and art in our core program.​
Doesgrade 10 photography or grade 10 media arts counts towards 1 required credit in art?
Why is academic grade 9 math not offered any longer?

​Ontario's Ministry of Education recently announced that grade 9 math will be the first subject to be destreamed across the province, beginning September 2021. As such, students entering grade 9 next September will take the same math course (MTH1W1). Check out the course description here:
