The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Page Content What are other ways to earn credits outside of regular day school program?
There are many opportunities for you to earn secondary school credits outside of the regular day school 
program. Registration for these courses requires approval from your guidance department:
Continuing Education Services Music Certificates Accepted For Credit Students who are working towards their OSSD are able to use specified music certificates towards credits. For more information about the certificate requirements, please contact the Guidance Services Department in your school.
This program uses a blended learning format
consisting of pool instruction, face-to-face instruction in class and on-line
learning. It is offered in partnership between the Continuing Education,
York Region District School Board and the City of Markham. Upon
completion, successful students may earn the following courses and
certifications.
Students earn up to 7 credits towards their OSSD,
become a certified Personal Support Worker (PSW), and gain employment in the
health care field. The PSW program is taught by: teachers, registered nurses,
physiotherapists, allied health professionals, and social workers. You can earn credits in a smaller class environment with personalized timetables and alternative learning approaches to meet your individual needs.
If you are interested in earning credits within your regular day school in the form of alternate environments, speak to your guidance counselor.
