Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Page Content Step 1: Register Online (CLOSED)
Complete the online registration process through EDSBY.
- If you are a YRDSB family, you would use your existing Edsby account.
- If you are NOT a YRDSB family, you would have to register for a new Edsby account
- You currently live in the Programme Area Boundary indicated on the YRDSB School Locator.
- You are a student currently in Grade 8 or Grade 9.
- Fees: $25.00 non-refundable application fee for each discipline (These fees are not eligible for tax receipt). A maximum of 2 applications per student.

Step 2: Application Online E-Portfolio (CLOSED)
- Students will receive their E-Portfolio for the program(s) they are applying for the
week of December 10, 2021.
- Students will submit their E-Portfolio on or before January 10, 2022
Step 4: ArtsWest Interview (CLOSED)
After January 14th, you will receive an email from WCI confirming the time of your ArtsWEST Interview. If you have not received an email by the 21st of January, please connect with westmount.ci@yrdsb.ca and someone will get back to you.
Step 3: Acceptance Email (LETTER HAS BEEN SENT OUT)
After the selection process, all registrants who submit an application will receive an email notification at the beginning of February 2022.
Registrants will receive:
● An offer of acceptance
● A notification that they are on a waitlist
● A notification that they were not successful
Students must accept or decline an offer. At this point, schools will begin the Grade 9 registration process.
