Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

The Dance Department is committed to supporting students to discover more about themselves as artists and as people through the lens for Dance. Within our Dance courses, students will learn different dance styles, to train physically through conditioning, cardio and stretching, discover the power of a community, and to develop further self-confidence, self-awareness and well-being.
The phrase “Dance is for Everyone!” is our philosophy and we mean every word of it!

Taking Dance at Huron
We have one large main dance studio equipped with high tech sound, barres, mirrors, spotlights and a sprung floor. In addition, students have access to our Greenhouse Theatre, which includes professional lighting and sound boards and an intimate performing stage. Students will have their studies richly complimented through numerous workshops with guest artists and multiple field trips in an attempt to tie academic learning and studio practice with real life applications. As an elective, many students step into our studio with no formal dance training and they decide to continue to explore Dance throughout their four years at Huron. These Dance experiences become a memorable part of the Huron journey.

Arts Huron Dance Certificate
Huron is home to one of four regional arts programs in our board for students who want to immerse themselves in the arts experience. Entrance is by application and audition. Applications and audition requirements may be found online. Students are part of an immersive arts community with workshops, field trips and showcase opportunities.
